One of the problems with this investigation is that it is very difficult to generate a quantitative prediction. By analogy with trolleys rolling down a ramp we can predict that the time will increase as the length increases. However, we can't say if the time is proportional to the length, or the length squared etc. The scientific understanding required to work this out is beyond the scope of the GCSE syllabus.
